It sounds interesting, (and I'm definitely a furry!) but as someone who is VERY particular about what I want to see in art, I'm afraid that it will turn out to be like e621or some other very pornographic sites which are so commonplace in the Fandom...
You can control your browsing experience with blacklisted tags or even pure sfw mode. FN also has a different way of what displays as 'popular', instead of favorites (which makes porn popular) things are voted up with promotes which seems to make more sfw content show up in the popular feed c:
I feel naughty saying "no I'm not a furry" because of course I'm a furry. But the rest of the answers come across like I'm answering a "survey" on a commercial advertisement banner.
I'm aware of the site, but it sounds like a social network and frankly those aren't my cup of tea. And as an art site, it looks okay, but nothing spectacular. Like Weasyl before it, they're making waves, but where's that hype going to go when they inevitably don't draw in a huge crowd? Like Inkbunny, Sofurry, Weasyl and probably more, they offer some stand-out features, but people will always find elements of the site to be unfavorable. Currently, I can't use Imagus to fullview submissions by mousing over them, so the browsing experience is hampered by that even though I like the lack of wasted space in the layout. Thumbnails and view sizes are nice and large even on 4k, layout is good, but I hate the non-threaded, date-organized comment layout.
I don't mind using more sites than just one, personally, but what I'd really kill for is a way to crosspost between my FA, Weasyl and IB, and maybe DA too. So far Weasyl is the only one with a Chrome extension for cross-posting (as far as I know) and it makes extending my reach to that site infinitely easier. Adding another site to the 4 I regularly check and post to isn't something I'll be easily convinced of.
You can so far import you FA gallery to FN, and the feature looks like it's getting some upgrades. Theres also votes going on to support importing from sofurry and weasyl.
The comment layout "facebook feed" style is actually something I put up a post about to the suggestions forums, to improve and make better (cause I really think it needs some good improvements) support.furrynetwork.com/topic… Site is still in beta and open for community suggestions to make it better and add more features c:
The fandom also revolves around commissioning artists to bring their characters to live, so the commission and donation/subscription feature is very welcome and something completely new. For years there was no proper way to do international nsfw rated commissions without special setups, and no there is going to be one run by furries for furries (paypal is pretty strict...)
The reason why sofurry, inkbunny and weasyl didn't advance into bigger sites is because they all have their issues: inkbunny pretty much promotes cubporn, weasyl grew to be full of elitists and sofurry is unfortunately incredibly unstable (otherwise it's very good tho, in comparison to the two others). FN doesn't run on donations but is backed by a big furry business (yay for all furry!)
I am failing to see what is special about that site. Looks like an ordinary run of the mill image board / community website for furries, which there is plenty of as is. While the site has an interesting layout; it looks no different than any other place feature wise. Willing to listen to anyone willing or able to explain what is "special" about it for my own personal interests.
Special about them is the commission feature and payment methods. Currently the popular option for furry commissions is paypal, but they have very harsh rules to even slightly nsfw artwork and there is where FN comes to rescue. The team has experience running a furry business for years and can take various payment methods. Said business also backs up the site financially, so it's not expected to suddenly go down because 'no donations', like all other furry-for-furry communities out there. They have said they aim for minimal fees, hopefully better than paypal.
The site also no-doubt first popped up when people were in stress and trouble after IMVU (a non-furry related company known to spread malware via their services) purchased FA out of nowhere. FA being the central furry community where commissions are sold and majority of the community still is. FN quite clearly also aims to be the next secure furry home that is neutral on opinions and preference (inkbunny>cubporn, weasyl>elitist furs, sofurry> very unstable+old stigma being yiffstar). They have great tools to blacklist content you don't want to see, giving the optimal browsing experience (you can actually visit the front pages wooo!)
They also support multimedia uploads like videos and give visibility for photographs and stories separately c:
That is fair enough should that happen. Till the place gets out of Beta, Beta being an word that will scare many away, probably will just watch and listen and then see how it goes. Really just don't want to juggle so many websites at the time for art viewing & watching.
Yes, got the beta about 3 months ago. But I haven't really tried it out. I only tried it for a few days after I got into the beta. So I don't really know what to think of it. But the page over all is ok I guess, but it's a bit hard to use. It definitely got potential tho. It is a pretty good website for furries since there is almost only furry stuff on it. Maybe it's a bit too much mature content on the website. But if you like mature content, thats just a bonus.
Heard of it, though personally I can't really manage another watcher account beside DA and FA. Tried that with Weasyl last year, now I have over 1400 submission notifications that I'd have to go through lol.
